Washington, D.C. – Global ARM issued the following statement on the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Turkish Empire:

Today, Global ARM joins the international community in solemn commemoration of the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. We honor the memory of the 1.5 million Armenians who perished as the Ottoman Turkish Empire carried out a systematic campaign to erase the Armenian people and nation. This day is not only one of remembrance, but a moment to reaffirm our commitment to truth, justice, and the enduring partnership between the United States and Armenia. It also underscores the critical role of U.S. leadership in fostering a lasting and durable peace in the South Caucasus.

Today’s Presidential statement acknowledged the 1.5 million Armenians massacred by the Ottoman Empire. We are disheartened that the statement did not recognize what these mass murders were – Genocide.

Global ARM supports President Trump’s commitment to safeguarding religious freedom and protecting vulnerable minorities. We value President Trump’s recommitment to stopping the persecution of Armenian Christians and ending ethnically motivated hatred and violence in the region. Today’s statement builds on his October 2024 Truth Social post regarding Azerbaijan’s ethnic cleansing of Artsakh when he proclaimed, “I will protect persecuted Christians, I will work to stop the violence and ethnic cleansing …”

One of Global ARM’s top priorities is strengthening U.S.-Armenia ties, and we applaud President Trump’s clear and unmistakable message that his Administration is committed to the Strategic Partnership between the U.S. and Armenia. Global ARM will continue working with the U.S. Government as it seeks to deepen the bilateral relationship with Armenia by bolstering security cooperation, growing economic ties and achieving enduring peace.

Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day reminds us of the opportunities before us to achieve a just and durable peace in the South Caucasus. The Administration has championed peace and the protection of innocent life. We commend Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz for their unequivocal demands that Baku stop the escalation and release all Armenian political prisoners.

Global ARM is in alignment with the Trump Administration that any new Azerbaijani aggression is unacceptable and undermines progress towards enduring prosperity and security for Armenia. It is only when Azerbaijan ends its occupation of sovereign Armenian territory, abandons its hostile actions to provoke conflict, stops destroying Armenian holy sites and releases the hostages that we will know Ilham Aliyev is serious about peace.
