Election Commission Confirms Final Seat Distribution in Armenia’s New Parliament
Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission announced the final results of the 7 June 2026 parliamentary elections, confirming seat allocations in the new National Assembly.
The ruling Civil Contract Party secured 64 seats in total, the Strong Armenia Alliance 29 seats, and the Armenia Alliance 12 seats, with the decision subject to appeal before the Constitutional Court.

The European Court of Human Rights ruled that Azerbaijan violated the right to life and prohibition of torture in the case of an Armenian soldier who was tortured, killed, and mutilated during the April 2016 hostilities, while also recognizing the suffering inflicted on his family. The judgment comes a decade after the events, amid ongoing concerns over impunity for war crimes committed against Armenians.

Pashinyan’s Victory and Armenia’s Geopolitical Choice

Armenia is entering a phase of profound transformation in its security architecture, moving from dependence on Russia toward a more diversified and multilateral security framework. This realignment is likely to reshape not only Armenian domestic and foreign policy but also the broader balance of power in the South Caucasus.
From now on, Pashinyan’s task will be even more complicated, because he will have to somehow strike a balance between Azerbaijan and Turkey with which Armenia has had relations marked by hostility and even war.
Armenia’s economic future hangs in the balance, oscillating between potential catastrophe and opportunity. While Europe may be riding to the rescue, only time will tell if it is Russia that still holds all the cards.
The diaspora and the homeland may assess risks differently, but both ultimately seek the same goal: a secure, sovereign, and prosperous Armenia. Our future will depend not on uniformity of opinion, but on our ability to engage in honest dialogue, learn from history without being imprisoned by it, and work together in pursuit of a common national purpose.
Armenia’s New Army: Diversification, Rearmament and the Military Balance

Although officially organized to commemorate the establishment of the First Republic in 1918, the military parade held in Yerevan carried broader strategic implications. It visibly demonstrated Armenia’s post-2020 military modernization, highlighted evolving defense partnerships, and provided the clearest snapshot of efforts to rebuild deterrence after the Second Karabakh War and Azerbaijan’s military offensives against Armenia in 2021-2022.
